Tom Hughes
Tom trained as a Joiner with Ogilvie Construction. In 1988 he was appointed as Site Manager by Whatling Homes, and he worked in this capacity on a number of developments with Pollokshaws Builders and then Kelvin Homes between 1988 and 1998.
In 1998 he was appointed Contracts Manager by Beazer plc, and in 2001 he joined Strathclyde Homes in the same role.
Tom was appointed Area Contracts Manager by Bett Homes in 2004. In this role he was responsible for control of and liaison with 5 Site Managers and operational sites, with specific responsibility for ensuring that construction budgets were met, and monitoring and update of build programmes. He was also responsible for liaison with sub-contractors and for dealing with sensitive customer care issues.
He has extensive knowledge of different methods of construction and of the associated health and safety and customer care issues surrounding inherent within the industry.
Gordon Nicholls
Gordon Nicholls trained as a Joiner after leaving school, quickly progressing into Construction Management with large plc builders and housebuilders. In 1988 he joined Kelvin Homes as a Site Manager, and within 12 months was promoted to Contracts Manager and subequently to Construction Manager. He had responsibility for various types of construction contracts, preparing programmes, monitoring production and quality, liaising with the Surveying Department in the procurement of sub-contractors, and overseeing the Buying and Customer Care Departments - a position he held for 17 years.
He then went on to hold similar positions with Muir Construction and The Burrell Company (Construction) Ltd before joining Merchant Homes in 2008.
It can be clearly seen from the foregoing that Gordon has accumulated a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of the construction industry.
