Russell trained with Deloitte & Touche, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994. He continued to work within the accountancy profession for a further 5 years, before joining Tilbury Douglas Homes as Financial Controller.
When this company was acquired by Persimmon plc in 2000, he assumed responsibility for overseeing the financial activities of the group’s Scottish operations.
Following the acquisition of Beazer plc in 2001, the Scottish operations of group doubled in size, and Russell assumed responsibility for the financial activities of the group’s West of Scotland and Partnership housing divisions.
