New Horizons in Lanarkshire as Multi-million Pound Affordable Homes in Pipeline - Merchant Homes partner with Clyde Valley Housing Association to create new apartments in Motherwell
Leading Glasgow-based property developer, Merchant Homes, has announced a £3 million partnership project with Clyde Valley Housing Association. Merchant Homes will create 31 new apartments at Mason Street in Motherwell. The town centre properties, which will all be available for social rent, will comprise a mix of one and two bedroom homes with work expected to start on site in the summer. Managing Director, Alan Brander, has spent 30 years working in the housing sector having previously held the role of Managing Director with Persimmon Partnerships. Merchant Homes has worked with a string of housing associations in the last year, delivering quality, affordable homes to communities throughout Scotland. Alan said: “This is our first development in Lanarkshire and one that we are all excited about bringing to life. Our partnership with Clyde Valley Housing Association will allow us to create much needed affordable homes that best serve the needs of the local community. All our homes are built to the highest standards and we look forward to bringing our quality product to the people of Motherwell.” John Turnbull, Head of Project Services at Clyde Valley Housing Association, said “This is an excellent project in a prime town centre site in Motherwell, which will deliver much needed first class accommodation for social rent in the area. We are looking forward to creating a positive partnership with Merchant Homes throughout the creation of this development”. The housebuilder is also the preferred developer with another Lanarkshire based housing association to bring 16 affordable homes to the area. The deal is expected to be worth £1.8 million with details being released over the coming months.
